Harvest Report – conditions, recommendations and best practice

1. Requirements for generating a harvest report

To generate a harvest report:

  • Measurements must be available within 21 days prior to the last feeding date

  • Required information (last feeding date, harvest date, and sea temperature) must be registered

If no measurements are available within this period, the report will be blank.


2. Recommended data basis for reliable estimates

To ensure stable and reliable estimate quality, we recommend:

  • Measurements as close as possible to the last feeding date

  • Ideally, measurements up until the last feeding date

  • A minimum of 14 days of measurements prior to the last feeding date

  • At least 1000 measurements per day

 

Important:
Estimate accuracy decreases if there are few measurement days or a low number of measurements per day. However, it is still possible to generate the report.

 


3. Bioscope placement

Estimate quality depends heavily on correct installation and representative fish sampling.

Recommended depth for a traditional 160-meter pen:

  • 6–12 meters

Recommended tilt:

  • Roll less than ±10°

  • Pitch less than ±10°

Incorrect tilt or placement may lead to skewed weight distribution and reduced estimate accuracy.

4. Large weight variation and manual reports

If a warning about large weight variation appears, it is possible to request a manual report.
Please contact support for assistance.


5. Our estimation calculations

Definitions:

  • Starved weight – Weight after the fish has undergone fasting and the starvation loss has been deducted.

  • Round weight – Weight after bleeding, meaning after blood has been removed.

  • Gutted weight – Weight after gutting, where internal organs  have been removed.

Calculation methods

  • Starvation loss (starved weight) - Calculated using a dynamic model that takes sea temperature and the number of days between last feeding and harvest into account.

  • Bleeding loss (round weight) - Round weight is estimated by applying a standardized bleeding loss of 1.7%.

  • Gutting waste (gutted weight) - Gutted weight is estimated using a weight-dependent dynamic model. However, the gutting loss is never lower than 8%.
